Cumbria’s Ecumenical Magazine

Bound Together was founded in AD 1994. At its peak it provided 32 pages and 3,000 copies per quarter, to Christians.

It was widely acceptable, other than by the fundamental Protestants, who the magazine continues to serve as it can.

The vision was to provide a bridge between the churches and the individuals that would facilitate a cross fertilisation to the benefit of the Body of Christ. If the Church is better connected, then it becomes a better place for a convert to find the support needed to

Dozens of people have contributed towards the very many aspects of producing and distributing the magazine. Gradually over the years, it has become a one man labour of love.

This is not an unusual aspect of Christian ministry. There is often a flurry of expectation and excitement and common purpose when God does a new thing. However, one has to be called to a vocation in order to grow through its highs and lows and the process becomes a refiners fire. When one can serve even in the face of condemnation and injustice, the dross is stripped away and what remains is an encouragement to continue.

Most Christian ministries in the City of Carlisle are in need of people and other resources.

For instance, Churches Together have tried many times to produce some kind of newsletter, but they have all sunk through lack of consistent support.

Similarly, most churches are dwindling and cannot even afford to employ a leader and they stumble along hoping for a miracle, whilst becoming little clubs for the long a go converted.

In AD 1998 the editor either made an unwise error of judgement, or he took a prophetic step of faith, when he began to speak out against the occult associations in Carlisle’s Millennium Project. The disproportionate level of resistance is examined in the book, ‘The spirits of Carlisle’.

The magazine Bound Together and its editor, have suffered as a consequence, but God is no man’s debter and the Holy Spirit continues to reveal deeper truths and wiser ways and a constant source of nourishment.

Bound Together continues and it has also begun a sister paper called

The Carlisle Messenger that is slowly being distributed to the homes and businesses of the City of Carlisle.

We now have the largest ecumenical Christian web site in Cumbria, (and probably the region), providing information and links to every aspect of the county’s Christian community.

Unfortunately due to the religious politics that even Jesus had to confront, our service to the community is not embraced by the establishment and our effectiveness in ministry to the saints is diminished.

Please feel free to add our web page to your links page.
