Cultish leadership damages peoples lives and it must be stopped. It damages people’s minds, their emotions and their physical well being. People who are abused, often suffer depression and self loathing and this can detrimentally affect their immune system and that can allow disease to take a foothold.

There are very many vulnerable people in the Church who need leadership that has integrity.

Any abuse by Church leadership should be challenged and eradicated because it has and is responsible for un-necessary suffering. People who turn a blind eye, become a part of the abuse.

When one considers the variety of Christian denominations and independent churches and para-Christian organisations in the United Kingdom, one could be forgiven for thinking that truth is in the eye of the beholder.

Why has a Bible of Holy Scriptures spawned such a complex and often fundamentally opposed spectrum of beliefs? Even within Catholicism there are cults.

How come most leaders believe that they have been divinely chosen, even though many are in open disagreement with one another about religious and spiritual matters and most do not even engage with one another on any level? The truth is that many church leaders have simply chosen themselves and there is no anointing upon their ministry. Their dwindling congregations and manic efforts to survive off grants from the secular society that demands they provide community initiatives to maintain their charitable status, speaks volumes.

In the City of Carlisle there are about 45 different churches and there is not a single element of the Holy Scriptures that unites all of them in fellowship with one another, or in mission to propagate the Gospel. There are clicks and groups, but no common denominator that brings them all together in fellowship. Not even the love of God and the acknowledgment of the power of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit has united them in fellowship and mission with one another.

God does not need spin doctors. There is a pretence by some people that there is unity, but such spin cannot have been put in motion by the God of truth and so what spirit is afoot in the City of Carlisle?

Cults

There is something sinister about the manner in which a minority of church leaders seek to dominate, or manipulate people.

The misuse of the Holy Scriptures in order to control people, is a sin.

The victims of such abuse of power often find it impossible to discern what is from God and what is from the dark side of a leader’s personality and mind set. Sometimes abuse occurs without any evil intent, by leaders who themselves are in need of counselling for emotional and mental problems. Abuse also occurs by some people who have not understood Jesus. The light shone in their darkness, but they could not comprehend it.
